A strongly acidic cation exchanger, produced from a sulfonated copolymer of styrene divinylbenzene. This material is treated with a dye that changes the color of the hydrogen (H+) form resin to a bright purple.
The dyed resin is routinely used in power plant and laboratory conductivity columns. After dyeing, these resins change color when converted from the regenerated form to the exhausted form, allowing visual determination of exhaustion.
